A hybrid tube headphone amp with a USB DAC, the HiFiMAN EF2 is a great little unit for those wanting a small desktop amp for use with a PC.
It offers simply unbeatable performance for a tube headphone amplifier at this price level, and works well with both low and high impedance headphones. Included are L/R RCA inputs so you can connect your analogue source too.
Its low price doesnt mean low performance however; the DAC utilised is the well regarded Burr-Brown PC2702, and it also uses two 6J1 mini-tubes at the amplifier stage. The possibility of changing the tubes also means you can tweak the sound characteristics of this DAC/Amp to suit your own tastes.
